Yesterday the family team completed a month of climbing 343m to the summit of Puketapu every day to raise money and awareness for cystic fibrosis.
The $8500 in donations far exceeded their $600 goal, which will be given to Breath4CF Otago.
Palmerston woman Hannah Hutcheson, whose 10-year-old daughter, Sophie, has the condition, was joined by husband Matt, sister Chelsey Johnston and husband Aaron and friend James Crutchley.
Another man, Danny Watson, joined them late in the game, but was doing several climbs a day to make up the 31.
On their last day, Mrs Hutcheson and Mrs Johnston were joined by about 100 pupils from Waikouaiti School.
Sophie joined on 13 of the climbs.
Mrs Hutcheson said the support from the community was "amazing" and they had very few climbs unaccompanied.
They all tried to go together, but their schedules meant they often climbed the hill at different times.
The weather had "not been great", she said.
"I was lucky and only got caught in the rain once. It's pretty much always windy up there - some days worse than others."
She got faster over the first 20 days, but it was hard to judge her fitness now because she was so tired.
However, she was not put off the climb.
"I kind of like doing it now. I'll have a rest for a few days and then see how fast I can go."
