Minor changes have been made to a code of practice for stock crossings in the Waitaki district after the Waitaki District Council took into account public submissions made on the draft.
The biggest change was to ease the requirement for stock underpasses on minor roads, requested by North Otago Federated Farmers.
That gives the council more flexibility to grant level crossing permits on minor roads.
• A temporary liquor ban has been put in place in Otematata for Labour Weekend, Christmas-New Year and Easter.
The ban, within the 80kmh speed signs for the town, will operate from 9pm on Friday, October 21, to 6am on Monday, October 24.
The ban at Christmas is from 9pm on December 25 to 6am on January 3 and at Easter next year from 9pm on April 6 to 6am on April 9.
