Business growth ongoing

New businesses are continuing to open in Palmerston.

A merino jersey store which opened at Christmas, for the holiday season, and a second-hand clothing store, which will open in late January, are the latest in a line of businesses to open.

Businesses which have opened in the last two years include a butcher, a men's hairdresser, a nursery and daycare centre, a second-hand bookshop and a fabric and design store.

New owners have taken over the Appleby's gift shop in the Palmerston town centre.

The expansion in the number of businesses in Palmerston was an excellent sign for the future of the town, Waihemo Community Board chairman Rod Phillip of Bushey said recently.

Only three shops remain vacant in Palmerston.
