Writer Gillian Sanderson and film-maker Jacqui Foley launched the book and DVD, both called The Five Forks School Centenary, at the school's centennial celebrations last weekend, and the pair said interviews with residents and museum archive research threw up a host of interesting anecdotes.
Sanderson said the history of the area over the past 100 years made for an "impressive story".
"Two world wars, the influenza and polio epidemics, the Great Depression, severe droughts and the upheaval of Tomorrow's Schools provided an ever-changing backdrop to the children's lives, while the parents and teachers worked tirelessly to ensure a constancy of education."
Foley said the pair were glad to have had the opportunity to document the fascinating history, and the book and DVD complemented each other "really well".
"It was a huge project for both of us. The volume of material was quite massive."
