Watch: SOS Hospital Rally at Dunedin Town Hall

A Dunedin Town Hall meeting has been held as part of a campaign for the new Dunedin hospital.

More than 30,000 marched to the Octagon in support of the new Dunedin hospital last month after the government said it would either down-scale the project or retro-fit the existing hospital

Tonight's event was held from 6pm to 7.30pm.

Dunedin musician Robert Scott performed as people arrived and broadcaster Kanoa Lloyd - who grew up in Ōtepoti - was the MC.

Sir Ian Taylor gave an opening address, followed by keynote speeches from Dr Sheila Barnett, Dr Mike Hunter and health advocate Pete Hodgson.

A panel discussion also featured three clinicians - Dr Barnett, Dr Hunter and New Zealand Nurses’ Organisation delegate Linda Smillie.

The crowd was asked to endorse a campaign statement from the meeting.
