Kurow's old National Bank building is on the market.
The bank closed in 2012 after an engineering survey of all National and ANZ bank buildings, which found the 1903 Bledisloe St building did not meet earthquake standards.
Agents NAI Harcourts describe the building as "beautiful'' and "classical''.
Ahuriri Community Board member and Kurow businessman Calum Reid had said at the time the bank closed it was a "body blow'' for Kurow businesses, but now he saw the sale of the old character building as a retail opportunity for the town, which could benefit from visitors on the Alps 2 Ocean cycle trail.
"We're looking at a vibrant town and the only way you get that is with business. With the expansion of the A2O, we're seeing in the town a huge increase in visitors to the town.''
The building sits on a 1411sq m section.
It is being sold by Arawata Assets Ltd.
