A feud between two flatmates led to a serious physical altercation and court proceedings for them both.
On December 5, an argument broke out after the defendant accused his flatmate of owing him money and tapping his phone.
The victim was on her bed when Winsloe jumped on her, sat on her stomach and strangled her.
She managed to escape the defendant’s grasp and ran out of the bedroom.
But Winsloe followed her, grabbed her and dragged her down the hallway.
He pinned the woman against the wall with one hand and opened the door with the other, then threw her out of the house.
As a result of the attack, the woman suffered superficial scratches to her throat and face.
She walked to the police station and informed staff that the defendant had ammunition in several areas of the house.
Officers attended the address, arrested Winsloe and executed a search warrant.
They found 134 rounds of shotgun ammunition.
Winsloe told the court that his flatmate had ‘‘lost it’’ a few times, allegedly causing about $10,000 worth of damage to the house.
She is before the court in relation to that claim, but is maintaining her innocence.
Judge Russell Walker said ‘‘it is plain that this is a relationship that is not good for either of you’’.
He sentenced Winsloe to six months’ community detention and 12 months’ supervision and ordered that the ammunition be destroyed.
