The SBS Bank is chasing a former Cromwell businesswoman for a debt of more than $1 million.
A public notice in Saturday's Otago Daily Times notified Catherine Margaret Parker, current address unknown, that due to a High Court order, she had to pay the judgement creditor - the building society - $1,094,287.59 within 10 working days, enter into an agreement with the creditor, or satisfy the court she had a counterclaim or cross-demand.
The notice, placed by the creditor's solicitor, Sarah Nichole McKenzie, said bankruptcy proceedings could be taken if Ms Parker did not comply with the court order.
Asked by the ODT whether Ms Parker was the same Cath Parker who was involved in the Big Picture wine tourism business at Cromwell, Ms McKenzie confirmed it was.
She declined to give any details about the debt, saying she could not divulge client information.
Cath and Phil Parker started the Big Picture at the corner of State Highway 6 and Sandflat Rd, 3km from Cromwell, in 2004 and the business, which had been on the market for several years, closed in 2011. The couple were the two directors of Big Picture Wine International Ltd.
The 3ha property was bought in 2011 by the company behind a multimillion-dollar motorsport park, planned for the adjacent site.
The project was taken over by multimillionaire Tony Quinn, of Queensland, and the former Big Picture restaurant building has been renovated and now forms part of the Highlands Motorsport Park complex, which opened earlier this year.
