Five arrests were made by police over the Alexandra Blossom Festival weekend - the lowest number for 17 years.
Central Otago police sub-area supervisor Senior Sergeant Ian Kerrisk praised the behaviour of festival-goers and said the event had a great atmosphere and was ''trouble-free''.
''Police had a strong presence out and about during the festival to ensure that families could have an enjoyable time without having to witness binge-drinking, bad behaviour and dangerous driving.''
A 15-year-old Ranfurly youth was charged with unlawfully taking a vehicle, which was later recovered in Alexandra, and four people were arrested after allegedly drink-driving.
Those facing drink-driving charges include a 19-year-old Dunedin man and a 30-year-old Gore man who were arrested in Alexandra yesterday, a 21-year-old Cromwell woman arrested in Cromwell yesterday and a 61-year-old Omakau man arrested in that town on Saturday. All will appear in the Alexandra District Court next month.
