Gold-panning enthusiasts from around New Zealand will compete next Monday for a chance to represent their country at the 2011 Australasian Gold-panning Championships.
Starting at 9.30am in the Old Cromwell Precinct, more than 100 gold-panners are expected to battle it out as part of the Oceana Gold 2010 New Zealand gold-panning championships.
Individual heats will be held in the morning, followed by team events and overall finals in the afternoon.
The event is the only one of its kind in New Zealand.
