Experience returns to the helm of the Cromwell Community Board with Anna Harrison reappointed as chairwoman.

Mrs Harrison was appointed without contest at the board’s inaugural meeting in Cromwell on Thursday and returning member Bob Scott was named deputy chairman.

Central Otago district councillors Cheryl Laws and Neil Gillespie — also deputy mayor — returned to the community board with two newcomers, Mary McConnell and Cr Sarah Browne, also joining their number.

The community board normally comprises seven members — four elected from within the Cromwell ward and three appointed councillors — Crs Laws, Gillespie and Browne — from the ward.

As Cr Browne was elected to the Central Otago District Council, her community board seat was vacated, triggering a by-election.

Nominations open at the end of November and close at noon on December 12.

Voting will take place between late January and mid-February 2023.

It is intended the new member will be sworn in for the March meeting.
