Inset: Emma MacKay, of Mosgiel, a member of the Taieri Spinners and Weavers group, demonstrates spinning at the gala.
There were also demonstrations of butter- and cheese-making and 11 stalls selling a variety of food and Victorian-themed items.
More than 20 people also wore colonial dress for the occasion.
The gala raised funds towards a $45,000 conservation report for the Tokomairiro Presbyterian Church, a listed heritage building designed by architect Robert Arthur Lawson, who also designed Dunedin's First Church and Municipal Chambers.
