A Cromwell business is donating money to the community this month to help organisations that might be struggling in the recession, the business owners say.
Goldfields Jet, which is based at the Goldfields Mining Centre at the Cromwell end of the Kawarau Gorge, is putting 15% of every ticket sale this month into a pool to be divided between four Cromwell organisations.
The Cromwell Volunteer Fire Brigade, Cromwell St John, Cromwell Primary School and Goldfields School will each receive a donation.
Goldfields Jet co-owners Glen Christiansen and Hamish Egerton said it was one way of giving something back to the community.
"In a recession, it's usually volunteer organisations that get hit the hardest when there's less money to go around," Mr Christiansen said.
"The whole community benefits in some way from these four organisations," Mr Egerton said.
"There's an amazing bunch of people in the fire brigade and St John, and they're always there if you need them.
"Also, everyone has a link to one or other of the town's two primary schools."
He was confident April would be a good month for the business.
