Legally, event organisers must supply water for festival-goers, but on Friday night a boil-water notice was issued, forcing promotions manager Jason John to find a clean water supply.
That was where the council came in.
"They provided us with a drinking water tanker," he said.
"We have to provide it as part of our licensing, so a big nod to [Mayor] Tim Cadogan and the [council] CEO [Sanchia Jacobs] for helping us out with that.
"They really came to the party."
The worst of the weather had passed by the time the festival started at 1pm, by which time the sun was shining.
About 800 people gathered for the afternoon and evening of entertainment, offered in a cordoned-off area at Pioneer Park.
Nine craft breweries, food stalls, music and free children’s entertainment were among the drawcards.
People came from far and wide with their camp chairs and blankets to soak up the atmosphere.
Among them were Gore couple Daryl and Maxine Moyles, who used the event to get away from the floodwaters that had drenched parts of Southland earlier in the week.
