Residents and a community board member in Ranfurly have expressed fears of "someone being killed'' because of truck routes near the local school.
At a recent Maniototo Community Board meeting, deputy chairwoman Sue Evans confirmed that, since Christmas, she had been contacted by three people who were concerned about the regularity of transport trucks and heavy vehicles travelling up Caulfeild St past the Maniototo Area School.
These concerns extended to Welles St, where Kidsfirst Kindergartens Maniototo is situated.
Ms Evans said the issue had been previously discussed at Maniototo Area School Board of Trustees' meetings.
Mayor Tim Cadogan said, at the community board meeting, correspondence with local transport contractors would be a "good place to start''.
