A spare tyre, four buckets and a beer handle.
Those items were among the haul of rubbish collected by New Zealand Motor Caravan Association members between the shores of Lake Dunstan and the roadsides at Lowburn, near Cromwell, on Saturday.
About 70 members of the association's Clutha Valley Motor Home Group spent the morning picking up rubbish - a trailer-load in total.
''The spring clean is a practical way for members to not only give back to our community, but also to reinforce our commitment to the environment,'' Clutha group chairwoman Prue Brenssell said.
Takeaway wrappings, water bottles, energy drink cans and bottles and beer bottles were among the assortment of rubbish collected. Clean-up convener Alan Chisholm said the amount of rubbish found was disappointing.
''To find so much is really disappointing and, of course, we'd point out that it's been thrown out by passing vehicles - it's certainly not rubbish created by motor home campers.
''We're all self-contained and we remove any rubbish we generate when we're camping.''
About 40 motor homes camped at Lowburn for the weekend and the area was chosen for the clean-up because of its popularity as a picnic, fishing, water-skiing and camping spot, he said.
