Festival chairwoman Clair Higginson yesterday announced the reappointment of Martin McPherson as event manager.
It was hoped "to continue to build on the successful outcomes of 2010".
Mr McPherson was asked to take on the role for a "back to basics" festival last year, after the event's survival was threatened.
Three successive years of festival losses - 2007, 2008 and 2009 - meant the event was insolvent and questions were raised about whether it could continue.
A public meeting was held to gauge support and public donations and a bail-out by the Vincent Community Board meant the 2010 festival went ahead and was successful, making a "modest profit", Ms Higginson said.
Mr McPherson will also manage the WoolOn creative fashion event, which forms part of the festival.
The committee was grateful to Karin Bowen, who successfully staged WoolOn last year, Ms Higginson said.
It was the first time WoolOn had made a small profit.
"Given that the festival is happening at the same time as the Rugby World Cup this year, we think that the festival will benefit from an integrated and holistic approach to planning.
With one overall manager, we streamline the reporting and compliance process as well," she said.
Budgets were being discussed, potential sponsors approached and performers being auditioned for this year's festival.
The main festival attraction, the float parade, will be held on September 24.
Mr McPherson said he was excited at the prospect of "doing it all again, and the challenges of including WoolOn."
"I can't imagine we'll do things too differently to last year, considering last year's event was successful in attracting the community back to the Blossom Festival."
He was grateful to his employers, Summerfruit Orchards, who had once again agreed to give him four or five months' leave of absence so he could take on the festival management role.
The annual meeting of the festival committee will be held at the Stadium Tavern on February 16, at 7.30pm.
