After nine years as South Canterbury District Health Board's chairman, Joe Butterfield is stepping down and Murray Cleverley will fill his shoes.
Health Minister Tony Ryall confirmed the appointment yesterday and said Mr Cleverley "has experience in management and governance in a diverse number of fields".
Elected to the board in 2007, the Timaru man chaired the Warbirds Over Wanaka Festival and several small businesses and had been chief executive of the Aoraki Development Trust and the South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce.
Mr Cleverley will take up the position on January 1 as Mr Butterfield exits as required by legislation.
