Firefighting crews respond to an incident at the BP service station in Mornington, Dunedin, yesterday morning.

There were initially reports of a small fire or smoke at the shop, but it turned out to be steam, possibly from a kettle, a Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said.

Firefighting crews from central Dunedin, Roslyn and Lookout Point were sent to the scene in Mailer St about 11.30am. The service station resumed operations within an hour.
