Some say that proposed shipping containers are inhumane for housing convicts. Not at all.
In 2005, I visited the Italian research base at Terra Nova Bay in the Ross Sea, Antarctica.
The administration, much of the research area and the staff quarters here were all housed in tiers of shipping containers.
There is evidently no problem each year in attracting about 70 researchers and technicians to live and work at this modern station.
