It even earned the highest praise a skateboarder can give.
"It's sick," said Hamish Bagley (12), of Arrowtown.
Even a patch of morning drizzle did not deter him and fellow Arrowtown skateboarder Hootie Andrewes from trying out most of the features by 10.30am on Saturday.
They have already mastered the water feature drop, and think it is the best part of the plaza.
Hamish and another 12 year-old Arrowtown skater, Hootie Andrewes, are promising skateboarders who have sponsorship from skateboard and skate clothing makers Alta.
Hootie is also sponsored by Lower.
Hamish said it was unlikely he would get bored with the plaza style area or the bowl, which is to be completed by September.
"I'll use both," he said.
Hamish has been involved in fund-raising for the park, which he believed was the best in the country.
Alex Haberkorn, of Colorado, said the park was as good as any he had seen in the United States.
Mr Haberkorn, who is working at Coronet Peak over winter, said the plaza design was "awesome".
"It has a Philadelphia feeling," he said.
