The Highlanders will be wanting it hot for today's match against a Suva President's XV in Lautoka.
The side arrived in Fiji late on Thursday and will face up to a team which has been in camp for 10 days but which contains few Fijian internationals.
The President's XV is made up mostly of home-based players and includes only five players who went on Fiji's European tour last year, all but one of them in the tight five.
The Highlanders were forced to look to playing a Fijian side after regular warm-up games against both the Crusaders and the Blues did not eventuate.
The New Zealand franchises are playing other opponents.
The Fijian side includes only one player who plays his rugby outside the country, hooker Sireli Ledua from Northland, and not much is known about the team.
The temperature is expected to be about 31degC at kick-off today, with humidity about 60%.
The Highlanders trained yesterday morning and reported no injury concerns.
The team wanted a hot day, as the side is off to South Africa at the end of next month for a three-match tour, where it is bound to be playing in high temperatures.
The Fijian Warriors, which includes other Fijian-based players, was to play a game against New South Wales in Orange last night.
The match in Lautoka will be refereed by Wellington official Chris Pollock, and will kick off at 2.30pm (NZ time).
