Dexter Dunn became the first New Zealand licence holder to reach 200 wins for a season when he drove Smiling Shard at Addington last night.
Dunn (19) surpassed the record of 197 wins set by jockey Lisa Cropp in the 2004-05 season when he drove two winners at Addington on Tuesday. The previous best tally for a reinsman in a season was 161 by Maurice McKendry in the 1988-89 season.
Dunn was the leading reinsman last season with 146 wins.
Dunn has meetings at Addington on Thursday and Alexandra Park the following night before the season is concluded.
Smiling Shard, trained by Dunn's West Melton employer Cran Dalgety, gave Dunn win number 162 when successful in the group one Harness Jewels race for 2yr-olds at Ashburton on May 30.
Trainer Alan Donohoe has been disqualified for six years by Harness Racing Victoria stewards for use of the prohibited substance Aranesp, AAP reports.
Aranesp (Darbepoetin Alpha) is the trade name of a synthetic form of the blood-boosting drug EPO.
They found Donohoe had administered the substance to five horses in his care between June and October, 2008.
