The Star Regent 24-hour book sale was the most successful yet.

Sale convener Doug Lovell said this year's event raised $97,485 - almost $5000 more than last year - making it the most successful sale yet held.

Together with the proceeds of the "anything but books" sale in March, $106,967 had been raised this year to fund improvements at the Dunedin theatre.
