This is the second departure from the five-man team which finished second at St Andrews in Hamilton last December.
No2 James Anstiss left earlier this year to take up a scholarship at Southeastern Louisiana University.
Brooks played in the crucial No 5 position and, as first on the course in each contest, set the standard for those following.
His performances were crucial when Otago made the semifinals at North Shore in 2013 and the final at Waikato last year.
At St Andrews, Brooks had six wins and a half from eight matches, including solid wins in the semifinal, against Manawatu-Wanganui, and final, against Waikato.
Apart from a successful interprovincial career, Brooks has amassed a creditable list of individual achievements including winning the Queenstown senior title in 2008 and 2014.
He was educated at Otago Boys' High School and went on to study at the Otago Polytechnic sports turf management course in Cromwell.
Since graduating, Brooks has amassed an impressive employment resume in New Zealand and overseas.
He started at Kelvin Heights in Queenstown but then moved to the United States, where he spent a year at the Quail Hollow course before moving to the Whistling Straits course.
On leaving the US, Brooks moved to the United Kingdom, where he spent two years as an assistant greenkeeper at the Sunningdale golf course in London.
Brooks returned to New Zealand almost three years ago and has been a senior greenkeeper at The Hills in Arrowtown.
Brooks said he would miss the competitive scene in Otago, and that he had thoroughly enjoyed contributing to Otago's success in the past two years.
The departure of Anstiss and Brooks will make it difficult for Otago to maintain the recent success when the team competes in this year's national interprovincial at Otatara in Invercargill in December.
