The shop, called Mac & Wallace, sells vintage homewares and collectables and Ms Turfus hoped people travelling along State Highway 1 would stop off and take a look at what she had to offer.
The fact it was in Allanton meant it was more than ''just another shop''.
While she sold second-hand goods, she did not think of her store as an antique shop.
''When I think of antiques, I think of walking into a shop and there is just old stuff everywhere.''
Instead her goods were given a ''fresh presentation''.
Among the products sold at the store was old English crockery.
''The point of difference from a normal homeware shop ... is this is stuff that will last forever.''
Last week, she was still completing the finishing touches to the store, but she hoped it would be ready to open this week.
