If such a condition exists, then John Wilson Ocean Dr would have been a living nightmare last night as about 120 santas navigated a 2.5km course to raise funds for children living in poverty.
The course included cornering around a Christmas tree at Lawyers Head.
Before the race, organiser Andy Redfearn gave competitors safety advice to stay left.
''Be aware of oncoming Santas,'' he warned.
After competitors sang a rousing rendition of We Wish You a Merry Christmas the race began.
The race winner and fastest man Adam Liberatore (35), of Dunedin, had a time of 10 minutes and 27 seconds.
The fastest woman was Kirsty O'Sullivan (28), of Dunedin, in 10 minutes and 42 seconds.
The fastest boy was Sam Hughes (9), of Fairfield School, and the fastest girl was Indy Ivamy (8), of Wakari School.
Sam said his race tactic was to pace himself to Lawyers Head and on the return stretch start sprinting to ''pick off the Santas, one by one''.
Santas raced in Dunedin, Invercargill, Wanaka, Christchurch and 13 other North Island cities for the fundraiser.
