A firearms sighting sparked a response by the Armed Offenders Squad, ending in an arrest in South Otago this morning.
A police spokesman said one person was arrested after a reported firearms sighting in Ahuriri Flat Rd, near Nugget Point, at about 10am today.
The Armed Offenders Squad were called to assist as a precaution.
Further enquiries were being made and there would be a police presence along Ahuriri Flat Rd while these continue to be carried out, the spokesman said.
