Electricity was lost at places such as Sawyers Bay and Roseneath yesterday morning after vegetation struck power lines.
Aurora Energy said 777 customers were affected by the outage.
The power was knocked out just after 10am and restored by about 1.50pm, the company reported.
The outage extended into rural areas and affected properties included those in Upper Junction Rd, Waitati Valley Rd, Mt Cargill Rd and Blueskin Rd.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand recorded an incident at Sawyers Bay that was labelled a vegetation fire. A Fenz spokesman said firefighters did not see any fire, but power lines were down. — APL
