Production manager David Mortimer said the cast and crew hoped to whisk audiences back to the hilarious and "possibly historically-accurate" world of Elizabethan-age Lord Blackadder.
The audience would be offered an Elizabethan banquet during the breaks in the theatre-restaurant production.
"You can come with a big group or as a couple. We can accommodate everyone looking for a great night out in our banquet-style set-up."
The play condenses the second season of the popular ’80s television comedy series Blackadder ,which was written by Richard Curtis and Ben Elton and starred Rowan Atkinson.
Director Annette Farr has assembled a stellar cast led by Paul Davis as Lord Blackadder.
The play follows Blackadder as a courtier attempting to win the Queen’s favour while avoiding having his head cut off.
As always, he is aided and abetted by his clueless servant Baldrick and begrudging friend Lord Percy.
Due to the auditorium being out of action for renovations, the play would be staged in the "old rehearsal room" at the Church St Playhouse.
Mrs Farr said authentic Elizabethan costumes had been created just for this production by costume designer Christine Farr.
"And there’s even a sumptuous Christmas banquet which includes King Henry’s Ham, Lord Flashheart’s new potatoes from the New Land, Sir Percy’s Salad Sensations and Baldrick’s Vegetarian Surprise."
Halftime entertainment will include a table quiz and parade of the best dressed, so audience members are advised to get their costumes ready.
The production will run from November 21 to December 5 at the Playhouse in Church St.
