The Taieri Gorge railway line withstood last week’s rough weather and remains in sound shape, Dunedin Railways says.

"Despite the significant rainfall ... inspections have confirmed that the line is fully operational", commercial operations general manager Rebekah Jenkins said.

"We remain committed to ensuring the safety and reliability of our line in all weather conditions."

The post-Covid restart of a trip from Dunedin to Pukerangi had been due to happen last Saturday, but was postponed because of the adverse weather.

Ms Jenkins said it would go ahead this Saturday.
