The Waimate Theatre Company is holding rehearsals for Frozen Jnr, which will be Sharon Stace’s first time directing "solo".
Mrs Stace said the group was an "amazing bunch of kids".
"They’re all working so hard and they’re all so enthusiastic."
She felt if the community got behind the youngsters and bought tickets, it would mean a lot to them.
The young cast had been rehearsing three days a week, with rehearsal time set to increase over the holidays. The script’s estimated rehearsal time was more than 100 hours.
"It’s a huge commitment. It’s the same commitment as adults."
The cast were practising at rehearsals, working on the show at home and practising dance moves via video.
She had told the cast members’ parents once they got sick of all of the songs then they would be "only halfway there".
She said the 6, 7 and 8-year-olds knew all their lines in the first week.
"Two little Annas and two little Elsas were just amazing. They’ve blown my socks off."
She said it was a real joy to see the children performing.
"The older ones particularly are really starting to become the characters. They’re taking ownership of the roles."
Ticket sales were going very well, with 200 sold in a week.
Mrs Stace said that with a run time of one hour, the show was perfect for younger audiences.
All tickets were $25 and were available via Humanitix or in person from Amanda’s Address at 29 Queen St, Waimate.
The show will run from November 1-3.
