Netball: Steel gets Pulse first

The Southern Steel will open its ANZ Championship campaign with a home game against the Central Pulse on April 4.

The draw released yesterday features six home games and seven away matches for the Steel.

The first fixture in Dunedin is in round three, with the Steel playing the Canterbury Tactix on April 19 at the Edgar Centre. The Steel next plays in the city in round 13, but the match, against the Adelaide Thunderbirds, should be worth the wait.

The bye is in round five, and the Steel travels to Australia for matches in Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The Steel plays defending champions the NSW Swifts in the last round in Invercargill on July 4 and has tough encounters against the Magic in Tauranga on April 11 and in Invercargill on May 25.
