Two vehicles that went off the road into Otago Harbour are set to be removed by contractors.
A red car has been on the beach at Rocky Point, near Careys Bay, for more than a week, while a white ute is a more recent addition.
Both have become a curiosity for passing motorists.
Otago Regional Council acting compliance manager Peter Kelliher said the registered owners of the vehicles were responsible for removing them.
While no discharges were observed at the time of the crash, staff would continue to monitor the vehicles for oil and fuel spillage until they were removed.
"We understand that the vehicles are being removed on Thursday."
The regional council responded to incidents once they were reported to the pollution hotline.
