Charges after woman returns to supermarket

A Dunedin woman with a hankering for poultry is in court after returning to the supermarket she allegedly stole a chicken and pie from last week.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said officers arrested a woman in Great King St after she breached her bail conditions by returning to the supermarket she had allegedly shoplifted from previously.

The 29-year-old had been caught with a chicken and pie from a New World in Dunedin last Thursday.

She was told not to return to that supermarket.

The stolen meal and her return to the scene of the crime led to the woman appearing in Dunedin District Court this morning charged with theft and breaching bail conditions.
