Campbell Park Estate in Otekaieke will be sold to pay off debts of former Mainzeal boss Richard Yan, after he was adjudged bankrupt in May this year.

The estate is one of three parcels of land owned by Richina Ltd, Insolvency and Trustee Service national manager Russell Fiddes said.

"Richard Yan is the sole shareholder of Richina Ltd and his shares have vested in the official assignee. The official assignee will look to realise the shares of the company and accordingly the land owned by Richina Ltd."

Richina Ltd needed to be restored to the Companies Register before any further steps could be taken.

If there were no objections, Richina Ltd would be restored tomorrow.

The homestead was built in 1876 and features a castle-style mansion, an old jailhouse, fruit orchards and field garden adjoining a 1133ha working farm and 4ha vineyard, as well as a restaurant, indoor gym, tennis courts, a swimming pool, grade-seven aero runway, subterranean cave and its own village.

It became a boys’ school in 1908 and was closed in 1987.

The property is registered with Heritage New Zealand and has featured in films such as The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
