Two people are dead after separate accidents - one in the South Island, one in the North Island - this morning.
In Canterbury a man was killed when after his vehicle crashed down a bank just before 7am.
The crash happened on State Highway 7 between Culverden and Hanmer, northern police communications team leader Hemi Waretini said.
The driver was the only one inside the vehicle.
Meanwhile. a person died after a crash between a car and a motorcyclist in Hawkes Bay.
Police received a call about the crash at 7am and when they arrived on the scene one person, believed to be the motorcyclist, was dead.
No more details were immediately available.
The crash, on State Highway 2 near Waitangi Bridge between Clive and Napier, has caused traffic problems, police said.
