Trust accepted as conduit for pool project

The Mosgiel Taieri Community Board has accepted an offer of the use of an existing community trust to progress the new Mosgiel pool project.

The Taieri Community Facilities Trust was originally set up as the Mosgiel Playgounds Trust, which drove the upgrade of the Memorial Park Playground for which it raised $600,000.

Trustees Janet Jopson and Teresa Christie said the trust structure was there and ready to go if the board wanted to support it being used as the funding and driving conduit for the pool project.

Setting up a new trust could take a year or more, they said.

The board agreed to support the trust to find new trustees and/or other helpers from the community, for the project.

The Dunedin City Council proposes contributing $30,000 to a community trust this year to investigate and progress concepts for a new pool facility, including public consultation on potential sites and design, funding and operation and ownership models.
