Rodeo attracts high number of entries

This year's Outram Rodeo is shaping up to be one of the best yet, publicity officer Fred Dougherty says.

Mr Dougherty said everything was on track for what was one of the country's best organised rodeo events.

''We've got huge entries this year, and it's going to be slick action all day long.''

The number of entries was high this year due to five rodeos being staged in nine days at Waikouaiti, Lawrence, Outram, Mataura and Invercargill.

Outram was third on the southern circuit, and had attracted more entries because the rodeos were so close together.

Spectators could expect some great riding in a range of tried and true events, she said.

Now, there was only the weather to keep fingers crossed for.

''It'll be fine. Outram will be the place to be.''

Gate prices are $5 for children, $15 for adults and $30 for a family. The rodeo starts at 9.30am tomorrow.
