First-year Queenstown Primary School pupils dive into the ''Giving Sale'' of donated bric-a-brac and cakes to raise money for charity.

New entrants at Queenstown Primary School demonstrated their generosity towards those less fortunate by bringing home baking, pre-loved toys and books and pocket money to the school's first ''Giving Sale''.

About 120 children in year one raced around the stalls for the toys and treats they wanted to buy from their ''class buddies'' on Thursday.

Year 1 and 2 team leader Julie Walker said the Giving Sale was inspired by the school project titled ''Earth Warriors - Caretakers of the Planet''. Children studied the conservation, sale and preservation of water and how small actions could make big differences.

Their sale will raise money to pay for several water filters in the poorest areas of Cambodia.
