
The restaurant was closed on Friday afternoon and the Otago Daily Times was unable to contact the owners.
On Facebook, owner Jennifer Kasper said that over the past five and a-half years she and her team had aimed to provide the best possible food and service experience in Dunedin.
"We have made the tough decision to close Papa Chou’s as of February 26. Our last day of trading will be Saturday, February 25."
Arrangements would be made for customers to redeem outstanding vouchers, Ms Kasper said.
The last three years have been extremely hard for everyone, not just the hospitality industry, she said.
"The one thing we realised during this time of distress is that you can always count on your family and friends ...
"You need to make changes in life to not get lost in the daily rat race.
"During all the lockdowns and uncertainty we all had been facing, our family managed to add two new family members."
She ended the post by saying "Let me finish with a quote: It’s not a sweet and sour ‘goodbye’ but it is a hot and spicy ‘See you again soon’."
