A Queenstown policewoman was allegedly bitten by another woman during an incident in the resort this week.
An English-born 23-year-old woman living in Queenstown was arrested for allegedly assaulting police with intent to injure on Tuesday morning.
Sergeant Kate Pirovano, of Queenstown, yesterday said the intoxicated woman arrived at Lakes District Hospital seeking treatment for a head injury but ''played up'' and police were called.
A policewoman was allegedly bitten on a thumb by the woman hard enough to draw blood. Sgt Pirovano said. The woman was expected to appear in the Queenstown District Court on Tuesday.
• In another incident, an ''extremely intoxicated'' 26-year-old Indian man living in Queenstown allegedly became aggressive and abusive towards a woman taxi driver yesterday at 12.10am.
The man allegedly resisted police and spat at and attempted to bite officers.
The man was arrested and charged with disorderly behaviour, resisting arrest and assaulting police. He is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
• About $1000 worth of alcohol and meat products were stolen from the Bathhouse restaurant on Monday night.
Sgt Pirovano said there were no signs of forced entry. A 24-year-old Queenstown man was arrested and charged with burglary and receiving stolen property at a nearby address at 10.30pm on Tuesday. Police were at the address on an unrelated inquiry and discovered the stolen property, Sgt Pirovano said.
