‘Beautiful’ range of pink art pieces put paid to ‘sickly’ premonition

Admiring handmade ornaments made by Otago Art Society volunteers is artist Jude Ansbacher at the "Pink" exhibition in Dunedin yesterday.

Ansbacher said she was reluctant to display her work in the show when she first heard the idea, as she thought having walls covered in pink artworks would look "sickly".

However, she was proved wrong when she saw the "beautiful" range of themed artworks on display.

Many of the artworks on display came together in a unique way and made for a great experience, she said.

She had two artworks

in the exhibition, a portrait inspired by bright pink overalls and a painting of cherry blossoms in bloom.

Having such an appealing and accessible theme would go a long way in attracting new adults and children to the society, she said.

The exhibition is part of the Dunedin Fringe Festival and will run until March 27.
