Visitors and staff will require a vaccine pass to enter Otago Museum from tomorrow.
Museum human resources manager and executive team member Emma Lang said a risk assessment found many of the staff roles were high-risk, and some areas of the museum had already been mandated to be vaccinated by the Government.
"It is important that the museum safeguards community health and wellbeing, and it became obvious from the science and the risk assessments that My Vaccine Pass was the safest option for the institution.
"This move is also in line with other large museums around the country."
Museum director Dr Ian Griffin said staff would check visitors’ vaccination status at the entrance to building entrance using the My Vaccine Pass process.
Children under 16 would be exempt.
Ms Lang hoped the new process would help staff and visitors feel safe in the museum as the country opened up.
