A Queenstown teenager who hit a parked vehicle while taking his mother’s late-model car for a joyride has been referred to Youth Aid.
Sergeant Steve Watt said the 15-year-old, who did not have a driver’s licence, was driving the 2019 BMW SUV in Lake Hayes Estate about 1am on Sunday, when he hit the car.
The boy’s parents were away, Sgt Watt said.
