The November 1 concert is the second Dame Malvina has performed in the Basilica. The first, in 2005, was sold out.
Concert organiser Mark Laming said this year's concert was promising to be even better, with a line-up of very talented supporting artists, including soprano Lois Johnston, who has performed widely in the United Kingdom and Europe, young Christchurch bass Chris Bruerton, who has also performed internationally, and Christchurch Town Hall concert organist Martin Setchell.
"It is not often that Waimate has the opportunity to host such a wide range of high-calibre artists and this will be another evening to remember," he said.
Tickets will go on sale in late September.
All proceeds from the concert will go towards the third and final stage of the restoration of the Basilica.
The final stage, the most expensive, at an estimated $271,000, will be the restoration and painting of the interior.
The first stage, bracing and strengthening the church and a new roof, cost about $234,000 and the second $105,000 to restore, clean and repair the exterior.
