John Stalker stepped down last week as chairman of the Remarkables Primary School board of trustees, after two years. However, he will continue to serve as deputy chairman and will remain involved in school issues.
Former deputy chairwoman Fiona Woodham became chairwoman of the board during the latest monthly meeting held at the school last week.
Mr Stalker said he stepped down so he could concentrate on other commitments and Ms Woodham expressed interest in the role.
His stepping down allowed equal opportunities on the board and both of them worked together on everything in any case, he said.
