Taylor and Bailey won first place and $300 in the junior section of the talent quest, beating five other entries, but Taylor admitted the competition was "good".
Most performers were singers who also played guitar but a couple of duets showed off some polished harmonies.
Singer-songwriter Bryony Harrison (17), of Balclutha, won this section and the $500 prize money with her own piece Torla, a song about growing up.
Judges Maxine Williams and Trevor Goudie said the senior section was hard to judge and they were impressed with both the number and talent of the entrants.
Summer Daze continues today with local musicians from 11am to 1pm in Pioneer Park.
