Guilty verdict for man who buried girlfriend alive

A jury has found a man who attacked his girlfriend in May with a stun gun and buried her alive in a cardboard box guilty of attempted murder.

Marchin Kasprzak, 25, attacked Michelina Lewandowska with a Taser at their home, bound her with tape and put her in a cardboard box that he buried in the woods.

Lewandowska said in court she used her engagement ring to cut the tape from her legs and then tore apart the box, which was buried in about 10 centimeters (4 inches) of soil. She managed to escape and flagged down a passing car that took her home

Kasprzak had claimed that he only meant to scare 27-year-old Lewandowska - the mother of his 3-year-old son - and not kill her. A jury found him guilty Monday. He will be sentenced in January.
