This week the two buildings began their journey to the camp in Silver Peaks, leaving their Tennyson St home and being moved to a site at the bottom of Three Mile Hill. They will make their final journey to the camp next week.
Camp groundsman Stephen Manning said the piles for the buildings were going in and would be ready for the buildings, which were surplus from Otago Girls' High School, next week.
A kitchen and toilet area would be installed in the new buildings, as well as 40 bunks which would increase the camp's capacity by a third.
"This will enable us to handle two schools at the same time in different parts of the camp site."
He hoped the new facility would be operating in time for the next summer season, but first the camp committee needed to apply for grants and fundraise for the work.
"It's a challenge."
